ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS: |
Solution: At this time
we are not recommending Reader 7.0. The read aloud feature in StudentWorks
Plus programs will not function properly. We’d recommend using Reader 6.x. |

Solution: No.
The CD is required in the drive. |

Solution: When you rollover an item or
object, a hand with a “w” indicates the hot link. |

Issue: Will this program run on Windows XP,
2000, NT 4.0, ME, and Macintosh OS X? |
Solution: Cursory testing performed on Windows 2000,
Windows NT 4.0, Windows ME, and Our customer base uses a wide variety of operating systems and
applications, and our software must be developed to be used on some lower end
systems to meet customer needs.
Because of this, we cannot guarantee that our software will always
work as expected as new operating systems and other applications are developed. We encourage you to give our products a
'test drive' on any new system you plan to implement. If you are not satisfied with the
performance of our product, we will do our best to deliver a compatible
product to you in a timely manner or refund your money. |

Solution: The
StudentWorks Plus version can read the text aloud. The exception is World
Language StudentWorks Plus which has alternative practices that are read
aloud. Acrobat Reader 6.x or higher is
needed for this function. Acrobat 6.x
requires Windows 98 2nd edition or Mac OSX 10.2.2 or later. To
access this feature:

Issue:
I am only able get chapter summaries
read aloud in Spanish. |
Solution: In most cases
the chapter summaries are all that is available in Spanish on StudentWorks
Plus. There may be other audio programs or other Spanish resources available
for our textbooks. To see what is available visit www.glencoe.com and click on E-Catalog or
check with your local sales representative. |
Solution: First, check
that you are using Acrobat Reader 6.0. That is a requirement for the audio to
play correctly. Also please download and install the latest update for Reader
6.0. These updates fix known issues with audio playback. To
start this process open Reader 6.0, click on Help,
and then Updates. Follow the
instructions on updating. You should install the updates so your version will
now be 6.0.4. |
Solution: Pages from
the textbook cannot be printed. Extras that are added such as workbook or
practice pages can be printed. |
Issue: Can I
download the program to my hard drive and use the program without the CD? |
Solution: This
program needs to run from the CD. It will not allow a user to download the
files. |
Issue: When creating
a new file in the Daily Assignments and Grade Log, I receive a “Director
Player: Script Error.” If I click Yes to continue, the fields in the Log are
populated with inappropriate text. |

| Solution: Please contact
Software Support for details. |

Issue: “A Web
browser has not been specified. Do you
want to configure Weblink preferences” appears after clicking a
link. |
Solution: The error occurs when Adobe does not have
a browser specified. Students can
access the Weblink Preference in one of two ways: 1. Click the Yes
button in the message box, then click on File, Preferences, and Weblink. 2. Set the path by clicking the Browse
button and browsing to the Web browser.
For example, browse to C:/ Program Files/
Internet Explorer/ IExplorer.exe.
Ensure the Connection Type reads the
correct browser. Restart Student Works
and try the link again. |

Issue: How do
I increase memory allocated to Acrobat Reader? (OS 8.6 - 9.2.2 only) |
Solution: This is optional but may increase the speed
of StudentWorks and decrease out-of-memory errors on certain computers. 1. Ensure the Finder is active and click Apple
Menu. Select About This Computer, and note the amount for the Largest Unused Block. 2. Find and
click once on the Acrobat Reader icon on the hard drive. 3. In the menu select:
4. For Preferred Memory, enter an
amount approximately ten percent less than the available memory noted
above. If you plan to run other
programs with Acrobat Reader open, decrease this amount to accommodate the
other programs’ memory allocations.
Enter this amount in the Preferred
Size box. To run other programs
with Acrobat Reader, you may have to open them first. |
