This
math program is designed for busy teachers, and is easy to use. Instructors use the Management System to
enroll students, set Pretest and Post Test mastery levels, and view/print
student and group reports. The lessons
are structured and cover core math components. Students can stay in the self-paced lessons
until understood. This is an excellent
aid for end-of-course, college entrance, and national standardized exams. |

CD is in the CD drive. 2.
Close all
other programs that are running, including screen savers. 3.

|
Issue: The printer is not working. |
||||
|
|
||||
|
Solution: After
each step below, try to print. 1. If applies, turn off anti-virus and/or security
program(s). 2. Power the printer Off and On again. 3. Download the latest printer driver. 4. If using a networked printer a. Attach the printer directly to the computer. (If it prints, the data is not getting
through on the network.) b. Try printing from another computer that uses the
same printer. 5. Try to print a different file in this program (in
case the desired file is corrupt). You
may first need to create a new document/file. 6. Open a different program and try to print
something. 7. In your printer properties/settings check options
that deal with DPI (dots per inch), resolution, quality of printing,
background printing/spooling etc... Try some different settings with these
features. The Advanced button allows you to access these settings. 8. Try a different printer. 9. Try a different workstation. If none of the above
worked, please provide the results for each step and the following
information: 1. What is the printer make and model? 2. What, if any, is the error message when trying to
print? 3. Is the printer networked? 4. Are computer ports LPT or USB? 5. Have you been able to print from this
program before? If so, what changes
have been made on your
workstation recently? |

|
Issue: Will this
program run on Windows 2000, NT 4.0, ME, XP, and Macintosh OS X? |
||||
|
|
||||
|
Solution: Cursory testing has been performed on these
Windows platforms above and have not revealed any
issues. On Macintosh, the program runs
fine in Classic Mode. "Our
customers use a wide variety of operating systems and applications, and our software
must be developed to be used on some lower end systems to meet customer
needs. Because of this, we cannot
guarantee our software will always work as expected as new operating systems

you plan to implement. If you are not

Issue: Error 108 - when
previewing lessons in the Management System |
||||
|
|
||||
|
Solution: Error 108
occurs when there is not enough free RAM to run the Management System and student lessons simultaneously. To preview lessons in the Management System, you need at least
24 MB of free RAM. To check RAM:
Click the Apple icon at the
top of the screen, select About This
MAC, and see if the Built-In Memory
is at least 24 MB of RAM. If there is insufficient RAM, to preview lessons,
you can do this: 1.
Exit the Management System. 2.
Open the
Skills Intervention folder on the hard drive. 3.
Double-click
the Student Login icon. 4.
In both the
username and password fields, type:
student |
||||
|
|
||||
|
Solution: The extensions needed to
be activate when using Glencoe products are: ·
Apple CD-ROM
(or the CD extension for your non-Apple CD) ·
QuickTime
PowerPlug (for Power Macs only) ·
General
Controls ·
Any printer
extension for the printer in use ·
Network
extension (if the system is on a
network) Note: The Skills Intervention Algebra Management System and the Skills Intervention Algebra
Student Login icons
must remain in the Skills Intervention folder for
the program to work. To move an icon
out of the Skills Intervention folder,
create an alias and place it in a location of your choice. |
||||
|
|
||||
|
Solution: 1.
Check the Extensions folder in the System folder to ensure the required
extensions are there and are turned on. 2.
If using an
external CD drive, check the SCSI connections: Go to the hard drive and find a utility
program that checks SCSI devices, such as SCSI Probe or FWB Toolkit. Use the program to scan the SCSI chain to
find what devices (such as the CD, external hard drives, etc.) are
connected. If the CD drive appears in
the utility program, select the Mount command. 3. If necessary, reinstall the CD software drivers
from the System Installation disk. |
||||
|
Issue: New student cannot login |
||||
|
|
||||
|
Solution: ·
Student user
names and passwords must be assigned by the instructor in the Management
System before access is available to students. The exception is using a generic login. ·
A maximum of
18 characters is allowed for a student’s first, middle and last names
together. |
||||
|
Issue: Moving program icons |
||||
|
|
||||
|
Solution:
DO NOT move the Management System or the Student
Login icon from the program folder.
To place one of these icons on the desktop, create an alias and move
the alias icon. You can move the
entire program folder to a different location, but all files must remain
inside the folder. |
