Windows

 

Director 4.0 error when launching the French Disc "Unable to copy the driver file C:\WINDOWS\macromix.dll to your Windows directory.  Your disk may be full."

 

Director 4.0 Error Message "328 while starting to record" on Windows 95 or 322 on Windows 3.1. (French)

 

Video Clip in Chapter 9 Realites not working properly on Windows NT only. (French Level 2 Only).  When user clicks on the horse blowout, a dialogue window appears listing a number of files.

 

If you have trouble launching the program or the video and sound do not play smoothly, you may need to free up some RAM.

 

QuickTime installation crashes when on a higher end machine (333mhz). (French Product Only)

 

Script Error:  Handler Not Defined #GPOPMENU.  (French)

 

Script Error: Not a text cast member. (Spanish Level 1)

 

Script Error "Property not found "#pGotoSprite" on the Intro Screen (Spanish)

INSTALLATION TIPS:

 

Windows 9x, ME, NT 4.0, 2000:

·         Insert CD into drive.

·         Double click on the My Computer Icon. 

·         Double click on your CD Rom Icon. 

·         Double click on the file Setup.exe. 

·         Follow on-screen directions. 

·         If QuickTime is not installed on your machine, double click on the Qtime/PC folder. 

·         Double click on the QT32inst.exe file. 

·         Follow the on-screen directions. 

·        Once both programs are installed, restart your machine.

 

Macintosh:

·         Follow these steps to install the Succeeding on TAKS software. The setup program will automatically Insert CD into drive. 

·         Double click on the CD drive icon. 

·         Double click on the Spanish 2000 icon.

·         Follow instructions on screen. 

·         If QuickTime is not loaded on your machine, double click on the Install QuickTime icon. 

·        After both are installed, restart your machine.

ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS:

 

Issue:  Director 4.0 error when launching the French Disc "Unable to copy the driver file C:\WINDOWS\macromix.dll to your Windows directory.  Your disk may be full."

 

Solution:  This error happens when the incorrect version of QuickTime is being used.  Install QuickTime from the CD.

Issue:  Director 4.0 Error Message "328 while starting to record" on Windows 95 or 322 on Windows 3.1. (French)

 

Solution:  This occurs if the user clicks the instructions button and then clicks the record button.  Recommended fix:  Click the instructions button and wait for the audio instructions to be completed, then the record button can be used.

Issue:  Video Clip in Chapter 9 Realites not working properly on Windows NT only. (French Level 2 Only).  When user clicks on the horse blowout, a dialogue window appears listing a number of files.

 

Solution:  Double click on the movies folder, under the files name section on the left hand side, scroll all the way down to the last file name "g9m1~369.mov", after highlighting the file click on "OK" and the movie will play.

Issue:  If you have trouble launching the program or the video and sound do not play smoothly, you may need to free up some RAM.

 

Solution:  You can reduce RAM by disabling unused extensions.  See extension information above.

Issue:  Error -108 on a Macintosh (Spanish)

 

Solution:  When user tries to connect to the Spanish 2000 Website, if the Ram disk is disabled they will encounter this error.  To avoid this enable the Ram Disk.  To do this, Open Apple/Control Panel/Memory. Click on the Ram Disk - virtual memory to "on".

Issue:  QuickTime installation crashes when on a higher end machine (333mhz). (French Product Only)

 

Solution:  Developer states to keep trying to install, it should install properly after the 3rd or 4th time.  Once the installation is complete, you need to edit the QTW.ini file and add "Optimize=BMP" to the first line of this file.

Issue:  Script Error:  Handler Not Defined #GPOPMENU.  (French)

 

Solution:  This happens when two versions of QuickTime are installed on the hard drive.  Delete all versions of QuickTime, except the 2.0.3 version.

Issue:  Script Error: Not a text cast member. (Spanish Level 1)

 

Solution:  When clicking rapidly after entering in one or two answers, this script error may appear.  The student will need to close and restart the program after getting this error, and will need to be more patient while completing these exercises.

Issue:  Missing or incorrect links to Glossary from Culminacion Vocabulario hot text (Spanish)

 

Solution:  When you click on a "hot word" some of them will not link to the proper word in the Glossary.  You can overcome this by scrolling to the word or using the search entry box at the top of the glossary.

Issue:  Script Error "Property not found "#pGotoSprite" on the Intro Screen (Spanish)

 

Solution:  If you click on the intro screen before the menu buttons load this error will occur.  If you click "continue" you can use the program without problems.

Issue:  Error "Setup has detected that uninstallShield is in use"

 

Solution:  This problem/error may occur if, while installing this product, the Norton Virus Protection Software is enabled.  The user should disable all Virus Protection Programs and reinstall this program.

Issue:  Does this product run on Windows 2000 or Windows NT?

 

Solution:  This product has been tested on both Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0, works fine on both.
