Contains video, audio, record-and-playback features!  Interactive conversations allow students to "take part" in conversations with native speakers, compare their pronunciation with that of a native speaker, and record cultural readings with follow-up activities. On-location videos enable students to experience the cultural diversity of the Spanish-speaking world.

Windows:

·         486S/33 MHz processor

·         8MB RAM

·         10MB free hard drive space

·         8-bit sound card with microphone

·         2X CD-ROM drive

·         256 color SVGA monitor, 640 x 480 resolution

·         Microsoft-compatible mouse

·         Windows 95

·         Optional:

·         LCD panel or large monitor for whole-class instruction and student presentations

·         Headphones for individual use in the classroom or computer lab

·         "Y" connection to connect two sets of headphones to one computer

·         300 dpi printer

 

MAC:

·         LC520, 25 MHz (68030 or higher)

·         8MB RAM

·         10MB free hard drive space

·         2X CD-ROM drive

INSTALLATION TIPS:

 

Windows 95:

1.       Insert the Spanish Activities Disc into the CD-ROM drive.

2.       Click the Start button on the Windows taskbar and select Run.

3.       In the Run box, type d:\setup (please replace d with the letter of your CD-ROM drive).

4.       Important: if QuickTime version 2.0.3 is not already installed on your computer, it must be installed now in order to play the videos on the Spanish Activities Disc. If your computer already has QuickTime 4, you will need to remove it first. Later, when you want to run other programs that require QuickTime 4, you will need to reinstall it. (See the QuickTime ReadMe file on your computer.)

5.       To install QuickTime, click on Start and choose Programs, then click on Glencoe and QuickTime Install.

6.       To open the program, click on Start and select Programs/Buen Viaje.

 

 Macintosh:

1.      Insert the Spanish Activities Disc into the CD-ROM drive.

2.      A window will display its contents. If you have 8MB of RAM, double-click on the 8MB RAM icon. If you have more RAM, double-click the 12MB+RAM icon.

3.      Follow the on screen instructions.

ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS:

 

Issue:  The Juegos (games), Literatura (literature), Referencia (References), and Portafolia (Portfolio) just beep when I click on them.

 

Solution:  This Glencoe Spanish Activities Disc does not include all of the content available on the full-curriculum CD-ROM Program for Buen Viaje. For a complete, electronic version of Buen Viaje Levels 1 and 2, including multimedia activities, presentations, exercises, readings, videos, reference material, portfolio feature, and games, you can purchase the Buen Viaje full-curriculum CD-ROM Program by calling Customer Service at 1-800-334-7344.

Windows

 

Issue:  Will the program work on Windows 2000 and XP?

 

Solution:  The program was cursory tested on Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP Professional and appeared to work just fine. 

 

Our customer base uses a wide variety of operating systems and applications and our software must be developed to be used on some lower end systems to meet our customer needs.  Because of this, we cannot guarantee that our software will always work as expected as new operating systems and other applications are developed.  We encourage you to give our products a 'test drive' on any new system you plan to implement.  If you are not satisfied with the performance of our products, we will do our best to deliver a compatible product to you in a timely manner or refund your money.

MAC

 

Issue:  Will the program work on Mac OS X?

 

Solution:  This program seems to have issues with OS X. It will not work in the X environment or the 9.2 Classic mode. It appears to work if the computer is rebooted directly into OS 9.2.
