ISSUES AND SOLUTIONS: |
Solution: No.
The CD must be in the CD drive. |
Issue: When installing I get a message that you must be an administrator in order to install. OR Error “This is not an
Answer Key Maker file”. |
Solution: Your
administrator should install this if you don’t have administrator privileges.
Restricted users receive
the error about not being an Answer Key Maker file; therefore the program
will not work for restricted users. These
users need more rights- everything except supervisory and access control, or the
equivalent permissions for your system. |
Issue: What rights do teachers and students need on Windows 2000 and XP? |
Solution: We
suggest teachers and students have PowerUser
privileges. |
Solution: The
options are All answers, Even answers, Odd answers, and Exercise(s) by number. |
Solution: Select
that item in the Table of Contents and click the Clear button. |
Solution: Answers to items are color-coded to
correspond to the selected option: Green = All answers
Blue = Even answers Orange =
Odd answers Purple =
Exercise(s) numbers |
Solution: The Exercise option is an editable
field in which you type a list of answers to view/print. You type either a single number followed by
a comma, a range of answers separated by a hyphen, or both. Examples, in the Exercise(s) field, type
one or more:10-11, 30-40, 50, 52, 55 |
Issue: How to get the best printout |
Solution: §
To print
using a recommended browser (IE or Netscape):
For the best printout, on
the Preview page click the Print button at the top-left of the window. Do
Not to click the Print icon on the toolbar (top right), nor on File from
the browser menu. §
To print
using a non-recommended browser: On the Preview page, click the Go to Printable Page link at the top-left of the window. When the page loads, click the browser's Print
icon on the toolbar or File/ Print. |
Issue: How do I save an answer file? |
Solution: The options are Answer Key Maker file (.akm)
or an HTML (.htm) file. 1. Answer
Key Maker file: Click the Save button on
Toolbar, navigate to the folder you want to save in, and enter a
filename. 2. HTML
file: Using a recommended browser (IE 5+ for
Windows, or Netscape 6+ for Mac), click on Preview. When answers display in the browser, on
browser menu bar, click File, then Save As. Navigate to a folder you want to save in
and click the Save button. |
Issue: Trying to open an
answer in browser but nothing happens |
Solution: Determine
if you saved the file as an answer key maker file (.akm) or an HTML file (.htm). Files saved with extension .akm require the
Answer Key Maker program to be viewed.
Files saved as HTML will open in a web browser. If you’re not sure how you saved it, or want
it to be an HTML file, instructions for doing this are elsewhere in this help
file. If it is an HTML file you
are trying to open and it appears your browser is trying to open the file but
nothing happens, or it gives errors, it could be related to the browser you
are using. Recommended browsers are Internet
Explorer 5 or higher for Windows, or Netscape
6 or higher for Macintosh. So make sure you are using a recommended
browser with the correct version, or higher.
The correct browsers are available on the Answer Key Maker CD-ROM if
you need to install them. If you have the correct
browser and version, and the HTML file won’t open, contact Software Support
for further assistance. |

Issue: Where is the Solutions
Manual? |
Solution: The
solutions manual pdf file is on the root of the
CD-ROM. To get to this: 1.
Insert Answer
Key Maker CD-ROM. 2.
Click on My
Computer and open the CD-ROM drive. 3.
Click on the
file Solution Manual.pdf. |
Issue: Will this program run on Windows 2000, NT 4.0, ME,
XP, and Macintosh OS X? |
Solution: Cursory testing performed on these
platforms have not revealed any issues. For Macintosh use, the program runs fine on
OS X in Classic mode. "Our
customer base uses a wide variety of operating systems and applications, and
our software must be developed to be used on some lower end systems to meet
customer needs. Because of this, we
cannot guarantee that our software will always work as expected as new
operating systems and other applications are developed. We encourage you to give our products a
'test drive' on any new system you plan to implement. If you are not satisfied with the
performance of our product, we will do our best to deliver a compatible
product to you in a timely manner or refund your money." |

file. Instructions for doing this are elsewhere in this document. 2. Open the HTML file, which will open in your
